Means not being able (yet) to say why they are screaming and screaming and screaming.

Non-speaking means trying anything and everything, carrying that heavy child till your back-which already has chronic pain- also screams.

Non-speaking means non-communicative. (For now)

Non-speaking means an entire household disrupted and neighbours probably wondering why there’s so much noise.

Non-speaking means lifting and carrying a child for longer than I should. Without bracing myself as I ought. Without thought at all about my abdominal surgery. It means absolute fear that I’ve undone all my internal sutures.

Today is a hard day.

If I could take away this sort of autism, I would. How do you help your child if you don’t know what kind of help they need?
